Hi folks,
Long time reader, first time caller.
I have a 1986 V6 convertible that all of a sudden gave me issues with fuel and starting.
Main symptom is: fuel pump does not kick on when switch is opened.
New fuel pump relay
New ECU
New fuel pump
Inertial switch in trunk is jumped
Fuel pump relay is jumped (now just pumps when switch is opened, doesn't turn off after 5 seconds as it should with working relay)
Fuel pressure is getting to the injectors (have depressurized Schrader by hand, and then run the fuel pump, and it reads as pressurized again)
It turns over once or twice with starting fluid
No obvious issues under the hood, fusible links look good, nothing clearly chewed through.
Reading through the excellent jrichker thread here: https://stangnet.com/mustang-forums...-checklist-for-fuel-injected-mustangs.787471/
I think I'm on to step 5, so perhaps it's a PIP sensor inside the distributor that is causing the injectors not to fire? Currently have a NOID light set on order from Amazon.
Could it be a clogged injector? From what I know it's not usually something that happens suddenly and causes a no start.
Would appreciate any advice y'all could send my way!
