starting problem

recently when I start my car it turns over and stops and then when I try to start it again it starts I don't know what it could be .

I would go over all the primary electrical cables. Battery connections, solenoid connections, and battery/motor grounds. It sounds like a ground issue to me, but giving them all a cleaning should help out in the future (corrosion is funny in that you can't visually see the layer of insulating muck, but it makes a difference when passing large current like for the starter).

timing could be off. have you messed with that lately? on another vehicle that I had, the timing was off because the key that lined the harmonic balancer on the crank was worn and allowed the it to turn, so I adjusted to the wrong setting. took me forever to figure that one out.

Thanks for your help I recently had a new starter and solenoid put in I will check the connections .The timing might be off . A year after I had my 340hp crate motor put in the timing jumped way up what would you set the timing at.

I would be around 12-14* with irons and perhaps a little more with alum. I would play it safe and bump up till you hear some detonation. Then back it down a couple degrees.

I second Hissin's suggestion about the connections. I had a similar issue at one time. When I pulled my battery out I found the starter ground wire was corroded and only hanging together by a thread.

grounds sure can do some weird things. since you recently had some work done, i would check your wiring first.
