Hey guys,
I was driving my car to a friends house when it started pouring like crazy and i had to drive through crazy rain for like 20 minutes at like 20 mph because i couldn't see anything, got to his house, like 3 hours later got in the car, the car started fine drove home, and the next day it wouldn't start. It doesn't even crank (the starter doesn't run), i checked the starter, it works on a bench tester, replaced the starter selenoid, its still doing the same, all the wires are new and look fine....there is a good ground and good leads. Its driving me crazy, been trying everything, when you start the car the power comes to the dash and everything, but when you try to start the selenoid makes this buzzing sound and thats it....seeing if you guys had similar problems, before i get it towed to an expert (it can't be anything i can think of anymore).

the car is 70 with a 302 auto by the way, if it makes a difference

Thanks in advance :nice:

Buzzing solenoid is almost always a sign of a dead/bad battery or bad battery terminal connections.

Clean the battery connections and hook up a battery charger for a few hours. If that doesn't work try having someone jumpstart you..

If you were driving at 20 mph in that weather you probably had the defroster on full, the wipers on full, the headlights on, and the brakes on (equals brake lights) quite often to keep the speed from building up. This would slowly kill your battery. It has happened to me a couple times in older cars I've owned before upgrading alternators.
