When you put the timing adjuster on, stock timing is with the mark lined up at 10 degrees. If you set it at 15, it will be advanced 5 degrees. My 99 ran best on motor with it set at 13 degrees, or 3 degrees advanced. On the juice, I set it at 8 degrees.
Detonation is when combustion begins and at some point during the burning process the temperature becomes to high which cause the rest of the mixture to autoignite rapidly creating high pressure which can be heard as a "ping" and cause internal engine damage over time. Usually happens with low octane fuel or over advance ignition timing.

Yes, I should have mentioned that base timing was 10. I had it at 13 until I went to the dyno and 15 produce slightly higher torque values throughout the rpm range. Does that make you nervous with that much advance on nitrous? I thought is was safer to retard slightly to prevent detonation since your combustion pressures are much higher when using nitrous?
Check my post again. 13 on motor, 8 on the juice. I have run it at 10 on the juice, or 3 degrees retarded from where it ran best on motor. That isn't too much advance for a 150 shot, in my opinion.
