Hey guys, I am thinking of getting a shifter but am unsure of which one to get. I have a 98GT. Not sure which one will work with my tranny.

though tri ax and pro 5.0 are good products, the people that say everything else is crap have never tried the B&M ripper or short throw. B&M makes triax feel like stock

KaPPaBaLL may have a point - B&M's Pro Ripper (top picture below) is cool, but their regular Ripper isn't modular enough for me (no adjustments or interchangable handle). And isn't Ford putting a B&M in the 05 Mustang? (I thought I had seen that in a B&M advertisement)

I don't think you can go wrong with the Triax. After researching the boards last year, I decided to put one in my 98 Vert. I don't regret it at all! It was very easy to install (provided you can follow directions!), and made all the difference in the world over the stock shifter. You can even choose between two throw distances. One thing I have not heard you mention is whether or not there is more road noise as a result of the new shifter. I will admit there is a bit more road noise, but it is worth the compromise!

What is the lever-arm lenght,
(length betwen the gimbal-center and the ball)
of the, stock, Pro 5 , Steeda,
shifters?

By the way ...why the f|_|ck doesn't it come with the dang silicon gasket stuff. Now I gotta go to the hardware store tomorrow.....

lol.. just get some hi temp rtv sealent. i'd let you use some of mine but too far away

you can get the silicone gasket stuff at advanced auto or someplace similar... i went to Home depot to get some and the one by my apartment doesn't stock it anymore

The general idea is:
a longer lower rod lenght, shortens
the travel needed, of the upper rod?
