So my interior is back together and it's time to move on to other things. It's a rolling chassis, but all of the lines, hoses and other fittings are still intact and in the car. So my question is: Is there a way to check the power steering lines and rack to ensure that all is well. I want to make sure that the foundation is in complete working order before I even consider dropping the motor in.

Thanks

Edit: The closest I got to any kind of check thus far is when I got the car. I had to steer it str8 for the flatbed and steering fluid came out of the lines with every turn. Another question: If air get in it, is there a way to bleed it out?

It's normal for fluid to be displaced while you turn the wheel with the pump not turning.

You can raise the front end and turn the wheel back and forth (not lock to lock, but close) a number of times to bleed the air. Technically it is self-bleeding but this helps accelerate the process.

Checking each steering arm for any slop is the best idea I have. I might just replace the rack while things are quite accessible.

The high pressure hose is cheap (20 beans a few years back when I did mine) and the other hoses are low pressure - I used bulk PS hose from the parts store).

Good luck.

Thanks HISSIN. Putting in a brand new rack did cross my mind, but the question that follows that is how hard is it to install? And oh yes, that raggedy rag joint is going. That's a definite.
