been feeling this rubb through the steering wheel and looked under the hood I noticed my shaft is rubbing just a little on my headers! the front frame, suspention and motor is out of my 84 gt and put it in my 1980 coupe that was a straight six! my gt never had this problem! is there a slight difference some where??
i hear to bend the header a bit but i would hate to restrict the header! is there another way of doing this without hacking things up???

Yes, you can buy new u-joints and a shaft and weld them together. Of course, this method won't contain a rag joint. You can probably make your own for less than $25.00. Otherwise, you could buy a Flaming River steering shaft kit (contains both joints and the shaft) but it's expensive. I bought mine for $189.00 and afterward, I saw that other people have made their own for a lot less money.

stick a pry bar in between and give it a yank till it doesnt hit anymore! as for restricting the flow!!! i highly doubt that it will make a difference in horse power! not likely at all! its not like your bending it 90 degrees or something! it wont hurt it at all!

I would loosten the shaft and heat the header tube till it's red hot than push the shaft against it till it mushes inwards about 1/4 of an inch than the shaft will not hit. and it would look cleaner than a bunch of dents from a prybar.

I also remember reading on here that someone loosen'd the shaft and moved it somehow and snuged it back up and it moved it somehow away from the header tube

I believe that Jeg's and Summit Racing both sell the u-joints. The problem is, you will need to know what size to use and the splines will need to match the rack.

We had that problem installing me shortys. We just bent the headers some. No problem after that. We found the issue during installation, so it was kinda easy. Easy because we had the header in our lap.
