Maximum Motorsports has a very nice solid steering shaft and there are install instructions on their web site that may help you...

As for the airbags, just disconnect your battery. Disconnect the negative cable first then the postitive and wait like 2 minutes. I think I read that in a haynes manual actually but that's how 'disable' them. I've had some bad experiences with airbags too. They never deploy when they should and always deploy when it's unnecessary, so it seems.

So did the bar break inside the cab? Down by your feet? Or did it break on the outside of the car (through firewall side)? I've never heard of such a thing.

In side the cab is were the bar broke, but its odd, it looks like it feel out of the other bar, aparntly the bar slides into the other one going to the engine bay. Very odd

How fast were you going when you tried to make the u-turn?

By U-turn do you mean, "I was drifting around a corner, and lost control and hit a curb, and it snapped!" ?
