Looking to replace my stock steering shaft with either the flaming river or maximum motorsports one for more header clearence. Are they the same diameter as stock or a bit smaller. I need about 1/8" or 1/4" clearence from the header (1-5/8" mid length) and heard that these two are a bit smaller in overall diameter than the stock one. I wanted to make a dent in the header to clear the stock shaft, but dont want to damage the ceramic coating of the headers by heating it up to make the dent. Anyone have similar issues? Any info would help.

The FR shaft give little to no extra clearance. You have the stock K-member still?

Bump!!

Big T. What did you end up doing?

I'm having the same issue. I just had the mid length coated headers installed and my steering shaft just a tiny bit. I also don't want to dent the header.

Any suggestions on this please?

Thanks.

They make it so you have to dent the header and then they tell you denting the header voids any warranty.
