Steering still shaking

My steering wheel still shakes between 40 and 50 MPH. It shakes a little bit above that but not as pronounced at between 40 and 50. I crawled up under there yesterday when I changed my oil and I can't see anything wrong with the rack or the bushings. Everything was intact. The wheels were just recently put on and balanced so I'm not sure what else to do.

either a bent rim or more likely the wheel balancing was not done right.

+1

My mom has a Grand Marquis ... long story short, her steering was vibrating. So the first thing I did was even out her tire pressure (because that will cause it too). She said it fixed it. The next day it came back. Turns out that the place that was balancing her tires did it WRONG 4 separate times. I took it to the dealership I used to work at ... problem solved.

So, now I check the tire pressure everytime after I have my tires mounted/balanced because after she had her's done, the pressures were like 17, 22, 29, 26 ... big time wtf.

I was cruising at 80 MPH today on the interstate and it was VERY smooth. No shaking or even vibrations. Who knows :)
well that should rule out a bent rim

shaking will get worse the faster you go

take it back to the place you had it done and have them do it again:shrug:

Yea, Id say have them rebalance, if its not right still, take your money elsewhere. I had one of the bigger shops in town install the tires on my bullitts, and it shook like mad, took it to a smaller shop, smooth as glass.

Yeah it sounds like you didnt get your wheels balanced correctly:shrug: I had this same problem with my old car. You get to around 45-50 and you can see and fat on your arm moving:D
