I have a MOMO wheel that was giving to me and i want to replace my 94 GT steering wheel that has an airbag in it with the MOMO. How the hell do you remove the factory unit, is there anything special you have to do because of the airbag.
remove the two plugs on the backside, unbolt the airbag, then unbolt it from the column...oh yeah disconnect the battery and wait a little bit before messing with the bag...and you will need an adapter to fit the hub of the steering wheel to a bag column...check out maximum motorsports they carry it
I just removed mine a few weeks ago. First of all you are going to want to disconnect the negative battery terminal for 10 mins to ensure that the airbag does not go off. Remove the two small screws on either side of the steering wheel. Disconnect the electrical plugs and remove the airbag. Then you are going to need to unscrew the large bolt in the middle of the steering wheel and use a steering wheel puller to pull the steering wheel off. Hope this helps.
