ok so i want to upgrade my system in some way but i have no idea how. I want a way to be louder without blowin speakers. and i dont listen to rap so its not really bass i need just louder. i dont kno if i need an amp, subs, or just better speakers. i have the mach 460 system as it is and am on a budget so any suggestions would be great.

I'd say change the speakers and add some sound damping to increase volume level. You don't want bass so adding a sub would be useless. The other route would be to change out the head unit, scrap the the whole mach system, add some amps...but kinda of hard on a small budget.

most factory speakers are under powered, regardless of being the "Mach" system.you might not gain much by replacing the stock speakers because the amps wont push them.

one of my friends who is really into car audio said that getting subs would actually help me because i could turn down the bass on the speakers which would increase their power handling and just let the subs handle the bass. is this possible. if i just turned down the bass on the head unit for the speakers would it turn down the sub? plus the bass would be there if i ever wanted it.

i just went to best buy and they said that the mach 460 system is already wired to an amp somewhere and they cant touch it because they would have to rewire the whole system which would cost like 800 bucks. can u do anything to the mach system? without spending that much!

If you have mach 460, no because you have to tap into existing data wires to provide the amp with a signal. But you could turn the gain up all the way on the aftermarket amp for the sub, but I still think it would sound crappy.

LOL! 800 bucks! Sheeet, I'll do it for $600. Sheeesh, Best Buy...what a bunch of dorks.

If you want more volume, your gonna have to scrap the Mach 460 system, buy a aftermarket head unit, components and amps and of course a big rewire of the system.

Otherwise, buy a good portion of dynamat or some other sound damping material. Remove door panels, seats, carpet, trunk carpet and apply the sound damping material. The more road noise and vibration you elminate, the louder your Mach 460 will be.

Good Luck!

I just bypassed a Mach 460 about a hour ago.replaced the head unit, added 2 subs and 1 4ch. amp and ran new wire to the doors and rear deck. I charged the guy about $700 bucks for the headunit,12's/box and labor. The stcoks highs sound a lot better with a better amp running them.
