Well i posted about my car cutting out for a split sec,It happens at any RPM and any gear and any speed. I thought it might be the coil? but i swapped coils no good still does it. It only does it after itis driven a short distance. Like at max 2-4 miles. And it's not really up to temp cause my gauge reads 160ish. Any more ideas from anyone this time? I havent pulled the codes but then again i dont get a CL. Or does my 89 not have a CL? Would O2's cause this? I've never ever had this problem before. The O2's are atleast 4 years old. MAF is new and clean.Anymore or better help would great! peace

I had a similar problem when I would drive on the freeway. turned out the ecu ground that is behind the battery wasnt grounded. I didnt think it had to be grounded to the fender wall and the battery but it does. has never happened again. just a thought.

Lastnight i went out and moved that thing (MAP) up close to where it goes from the factory.I did and same way on my white coupe just took it off the firewall and had it behind the motor.IF this is the culprit? I dont understand why all of a sudden? The coupe had it like that for about 3 years and this one has been like this about 6-8 months now. Is the MAP sencer not good to be in ALOT or around ALOT of heat?I didnt secure it just kinda had it holding it's self. Went for a LONGER drive this time, but it did start acting up again on the way home. Got home and it had fallen over on it's side again from driving. So i zip tied it to the brake lines on the firewall to hold it up.When i get off work today i'll take it for another good drive to see if it fixed it?Any idea if this part can be test?Be cleaned out?Come to think of it..... for whatever reason a few months ago i was trying to set the radio controls, well it was idoling i forgot to turn my electric fan on. The car got to like 240* maybe hotter i was like holy ****!So turned it off and everything has been fine since then except this deal. BUT! Is the MAP not good to get supper hot?If so maybe it went bad from sitting on the bell houseing when the motor got super hot that time?peace

Plugs are good and gapped correctly, atleast on the driverside bank. Had them out last week changing header gasket.Another thing to add to my previous post about the MAP secer, there is an arrow on it pointing up as well as the words "up". Does it have to be pointing up? Just got off work gonna go for another drive and if it acts up stop at the auto parts store and read the codes. I'm not getting a CL or it's burned out,or my 89 dont have one? peace

Well it still does it after secureing the MAP!I ran the codes and the KOEO was a 85 canister purge solenoid circut failure. I assume thats something to do with the emisions? I dont have any of it hooked up on my car. I tried to run the KOER but ran out of gas doing so and the reader couldnt read them :( So when i get unfrustrated i'll go warm the car up anddo the KOER test again. Anyone with ideas yet?Would the MAF do this ONLY when warmed up?I might try to clean that again and see whats up? peace

i just replaced the pick up. It was a piece of cake! The hardest part was installing the dizzy cause it fit's tight on my oil pump shaft. On my MSDcrap dizzy i had to take off 4 screws i coupling and the gear, thats it. peace
