Well I think it must be a short... I replaced the DIS, coils, and CPS in my 93 2.3L Mustang. I was trying to start it today and I can hear the fuel pump priming when I turn the key. I hit the hazard light switch and the pump primed again... hit it a few more times but I couldnt get the pump to prime again by using the hazard switch haha... the pump primes everytime i turn the key though....does anyone know where my short can be and why my car just CRANKS AND CRANKS but never starts up??? Could my timing have somehow jumped off? Any ideas would help Thanks.

Did this Wed night.

Had spark. Fuel pump came on and ran every time it was supposed to. Still no start.

Put a gage on the fuel rail and found 0 psi fuel pressure. Gas gage read half full. Put 2 gallons in it and it fired right up.

I would check the fuel pressure, at least release the schrader valve and see if it has gas at the rail with some pressure behind it.

Then check for spark, easiest to just clip on a timing light.

Not sure where to go here, but I would start with trying to get the codes out of it.

I fried my scanner Wed nite, but I am going to try the check engine light method this weekend.

With new coils, ignition, etc, my next guess would be a wiring or ignition switch problem that is preventing power from getting to either the ignition or the coils.

Jason, have you cleaned both battery terminals and all the grounds you can find? Try running a new temp. set of wires from neg. battery terminal to engine block and car body and see what happens.

Make sure that you have the right plug wires going to the plugs. Seems like you might have gotten them crossed. The front coil pack goes to the right side (intake) of the motor and the back goes to the left(exhaust).

Lol I definitly got that part right. I even bought a parts car this week so worst case I can swap the entire wiring harness over.

Fuel pressure but no spark!

how did you check for spark??

have you completely checked your timing?? like taking the timing cover off and resetting it comlpetely, etc??

have you tried pulling codes?? if you cant pull them, maybe the ecu is dead??

this sounds really really weird...has this car's harness been tampered with in any way?? Pull the covers off your steering column and check the ignition switch. maybe it's coming apart and not making the correct contact anymore.
