i was reading on here that a guy with 3.73s at 80 he said his rpms are at 2500 i just got my 06 gt about a month ago and as far as i know of the gears are stock but my car at 80 is at about 2400 rpms and 2000 at 70 so i was wondering if that is about right for stock gears or could i already have them i hope it doesnt cause the car feels way to slow to have them and that was going to be my next mod

not always, I thought so too but my 05 is a manual and 3.31 gears. Both the 06 V6 and the 05 GT.

I could have sworn that all manual 05/06 had 3.55s. That was a gripe 07+ people made was the 3.55 was an optional gear.

Just checked the original Ford prochure for the mustang for 2006 and it does state that autos have a 3.31 and manuals have a 3.55 (stock). I think 2005 was the same.

what about 4.10s the only thing is i drive about 40 miles to work and back a day its all interstate

40 miles each way?

When I had my 2000GT, I went from 3.27 to 3.73 and didn't notice a huge difference. Now my 1996GT went from 2.73 to 3.73..huge difference.

I always thought I should have gone 3.90s with the 2000GT after getting the 3.73 gear. If you will never go FI, I would consider 4.10s based on my experience with the 3.73. Don't fear the gear. Is the 3.90 gear available? If so, great compromise..though you will end up wishing for the 4.10s.

Even with my Saleen blower, it would be fun to have a little more gear over the 3.55s. Not worth the small change in ratio and I definitely do not want 4.10s with the blower.

I was told the same thing, that the manuals had the 3.55 gears. But sure enough, right around 2,000 rpm at 70 so I crawled under there when I got it home. 3.31 gears, says so on the tag. I even asked the Ford salesguy if all the manuals came with 3.55's. He said they did, of course, my bad for not finding out eh ? 2005 GT, I got a complete history on the car. The dealership I bought it at sold it new. I'm the second owner, I even talked to the lady that owned it prior. I'll decode the tag one of these days.

FYI common theory is high (numerically lower) gears for displacement or roots type chargers since they make so much torque down low. Lower (numerically higher) gears for N/A, turbos and prochargers. With your Saleen blower a 3.73 or even your 3.55 will keep from blowing the tires off (as much).

If you really have 3.31's, you got some kind of factory freak. Apparently nobody told the guy installing the rear end that it was a manual car. Because 2005 & 2006 manuals DEFINITELY were all supposed to be 3.55's.
