Stock 4.6L SOHC w/ blower, how much will it take

I will be putting a blower on my stang soon but I am trying to figure out how much will the stock internals(including Transmission) take before I start breaking stuff. 99% of the time is done off the track. One of my co-wokers has a GTS with 150 shot of NOS and he said that he has launched around 3000rpm under spray about 9 times now and have seen no problems with anything. Clutch still works fine Everything. I am worried that the internals will not hold up. I plan on having 6psi and water/methanol injection. Some Dyno's I have seen measure 410 rwhp with this set up. I am not sure if it was really all stock, but that is what the shop manager said. If you do the calculation of 17% drive terrain loss (found on web) that comes out to 492 bhp. That is a lot for a stock set up. What do you think. Or does all this sound fishy.

492 huh???

anyways you should be fine at around 400 street driven HP. becareful launching at high rpms though with stock axles, driveshaft, etc.. and dont over rev the engine despite thepleasingly high numbers your boost gauge will read at 5,800RPM :D

6psi vortech, mufflers and a CAI is NOT gonna get you 492 hp so no worries! :flag: Now if you free up your exhaust a little, and up the boost a little and you will be around your 400rwhp which should hold up with a good tune. The key is your tune though, if you get a risky tune then 300rwhp will blow your motor. Get a pro to tune it and you could safely run 410+rwhp. Personally though, I'm gonna keep mine around 370 when mine comes in just to be safe.. :nice:

look at it this way.. if you have a 375 hp combo running right on the ragged edge making 400 hp, youre going to explode everything... if you have a 450 hp combo tuned safe, running 400, the motor will be happy for a long time.. its not so much the hp level, but how its making that hp.

If you take stock number 220 rwhp and 260 bhp that is ~17% drive terrain loss, 492 *17%=83.?? giving you ~410 rwhp. Like I said, I don't know factually what was done to this car, the shop manager claimed it was stock, I was a little shocked by the bhp. As for the components, I will only be running the blower and methanol and water injection, I will be getting it tuned by a pro. Do you think it is a bad idea to run the w/m injection. The number without this kit was 378rwhp. This is still impressive.
