not on a stock bottom end 5.0 your just asking for a new 2-peice drink coaster. 125 is saffest on a Stock bottom end.

125 is pretty easy....150 is getting a lil touchy....200 is not so common but has happened

i myself ran a 180 shot with a 280+rwhp combo

how can you say 125 shot with factory 225hp =350hp

when you think your at 500? is it because you have pistons? even though guys run 570 rwhp through stock 93 shotblocks and crack the block after 1 year

Most 5.0's have stock forged pistons, sometime in '92 Ford swiched to hypt pistons, which arn't quite as strong, but the forged one's are pretty strong. The only thing about spraying a large shot is that the slightest bit of detonation, on a big shot won't be slight at all, and the stock components will be more likley to fail. As long as it is tuned, you should be ok to a point. Then it comes to not being the nitrous that kills the engine but the tq and hp output. Weather nitrous, or a blower, you can overload your engine. The only thing I could see nitrous doing is the fact that since a higher percentage of air in the combustion chamber will be oxygen, it will burn hotter, which can lead to detonation, which as I said, is bad, especailly with a poweradder.

thanks, i know how it works, im not here to discuss theory or what you "heared"from your buddy about how much a shortblock can take.......ive read on here about guys doing the 200 and 300 shots,i want to see results or llinks to pages with info so i can shut a ricer up

Well, your have to remember the saying "you might be a ricer if you call a 50 shot a big shot." Really, most 4cylinder import nitrous kits are between 30 to 80 shots, and they think their engines are so well built and strong and all, they are shocked to find people are spraying 150+ on stock engines all the time with no problems.

I read somewhere where juice is healthy for you, but rice is almost pure carbohydrates, so it will tend to build up and cause you to get all flabby unless you burn it off by excersize, so I say: Drink your juice and if you eat some rice, be sure to burn it off.

I think 150-175 is safe with a wet system, have seen 200 and have heard of 225+ but then again its all in the tune. A safe tune running rich with the timing bumped way down and no missed shifts may go fro a while on a 225 shot. A car with the timing bumped, no fuel added, and a crappy driver might blow on a 75 shot.

Nitrous is only as unsafe as the user in my eyes (to a certain degree).

Ive seen a guy run a compucar 250 shot on a basically stock motor. The only obvious upgrades was h-pipe, 24lb. injectors, 190lph pump, and 70mm t/b and 3:73's. Intake, heads, cam were all stock. He was running 12.3 - 12.5's all night on e/t streets. 2 months later he put the systemax kit on and dropped a little over a second to 11.2's.
