stock '88GT exhaust question

Is there a gasket on at the factory collector where the "headers" and H pipe join? I have a small exhaust leak there, which results in a tapping sound.
I crawled under and it is leaking there just a little bit. Can that be fixed by just tightening the collector bolts or is there a gasket between there.
I was thinking maybe it's like the aftermarket shorty and H pipe connection where it's just a "ball and socket" type connection.

Nope, there's no gasket, just the ball and socket connection. I have bought gasket sets that came with a doughnut gasket, but I think they covered multiple years and the gasket wasn't needed.

You can probably just snug the collector bolts a bit. Are you certain the leak is there, and not between the head and header?

Yeah, I'm sure because when I was under there, I put my hand around the collector and felt exhaust leaking from there.
It looks like a PITA to get something up there to snug up those bolts too.

I use a deep socket, a couple long extensions and a 3/8" U-joint swivel adapter. Those studs like to snap so be carefull. If that still doesn't work you can run a bead of copper rtv around the collector flange.
