What is the stock camshaft made of in an 89 GT? I'm looking into getting a MSD dist. and 6A ign. I saw that some can only be used with billet or iron shafts.

All roller cams 5.0's have 8620 (I think that's the hardness level) billet steel camshafts. Anyway, if you buy a the MSD distributor (factory distributor is pretty damn good btw) from any reputible source they can tell you what you need. If your just curious, you need a steel distributor gear, possible a brass one will work. Iron will were out very fast and is not a good idea.
I think the MSD EFI distributor comes with the correct gear on it.
Put a MSD distributor in mine and have no problems. If the dist. is for an EFI car it should come with the correct gear.
