Stock Exhaust Question

ok... several people say on a mostly stock engine, 2.5" exhaust all the way back will hurt performance rather than help any... agree?

How would it hurt? The important question with exhaust and hp is; "Where do you want your hp/tq?" A freer flowing exhaust will not take away low end torque, it will simply move it up in the rpms. How this affects actual performance depends on many more factors, e.g. gears, race length, driver skill, traction, etc..

Brian

I have read posts from various boards about people saying that with only a few light mods, (pulleys, K&N, afpr, etc) the first major mod they did was a complete (headers to tailpipe) exhaust system.

They complained about a loss of low to mid range torque which is really felt on the street.

I have seen the same people post several days or weeks later that they went to the strip and had better mph with the larger exhaust. :nice:

viperos, I would strongly recommend against the 2.25" piping. It will only limit you in the future, and will not kill your low end. Take it from me, I have done twice. You will love the response you get with your new exhaust. Take a poll; there is virtually no one here that has done a 2.5" midpipe and 2.25" back. I guarantee it will be a waste.
