How much power will the stock fuel pump support. My car has been having trobles lately. Most of them have been cleared up but now it makes little backfires. What is the cause of this?
Not sure how much it can support, but I know it's only an 88lph pump and I'm on my third one. Backfiring? Have you checked your timing lately? I think a turned distributor can do that.
My mechanic set the timing so that wouldn't be it. BTW, the backfiring is when I am slowing down in gear, it just makes little popping noises. Do you guys think that I need an upgrade on my pump. Plus, what other parts will I need to get it working.
The backfiring is natural with LT's and O/R mid pipe... guess you just gotta get used to it. I took off my smog pump and it cut back a lot on the poping... If you want to try that it'll probably work.
"backfiring" while deceleration is commen for performance exhause or leaky exhaust. taking off the smog pump makes sense. im sure that would cut it down.
