so i had to smog my car a couple weeks ago so i still have the stock h pipe on usually i run a off road x-pipe.. I took the car out on a spirited run for a 15 min freeway trip...got off the freeway and got into a long fast food line, idleing thru it for bout a half hour . when i got back into traffic and hit some lights i noticed smoke billowing out the side of my car more towards the back wheel well. i pull over and check visually so see where the smoke is coming from but now i cant see any without headlights behind me.. i didint see anything so i figured id cruise home an check it out with a flashlight... So i pull into my driveway and let it idle while i get my flashlight .. I dont see any oil hitting my ehuast or any smoking but it smells like somthing is burning. then i flash rite below the first set of cats from the headersand the pipes are glowing hot like a red hot molten from the cats down the pipes like 4 inches.. What do think is up??? thanks ron

Did you have the car tuned without the cats on maybe that's got something to do with it with the backpressure you get from the cats being on there as opposed to having them off. Just a guess though.

stock catted h pipe relies on the smog pump... run a stock catted h pipe without a the smog pump and it'll over heat and clog up or cook itself. I'd remove it and put the o/r x pipe back in
