Does anyone manufacture a stock style fiberglass hood? Meaning not a cowl induction or with any other look other than Ford OEM? I can't seem to find anything other than one on Ebay which I suspect is Chinese made and will require a lot of care to make it look right.

I run their 2” cowl and it’s pricey but the quality is IMO the best. Bottom side of the hood is not rough and basically ready for paint. Hood keeps the factory hinges, latch, emergency latch and hood prop.

The competition won’t know your car isn’t stock until its to late. Only your friends will know. Keeping it on the down low this stock appearing fiberglass hood is only 22 lbs.

What are the downsides of going with a fiberglass hood? Will cracks eventually form where the hinges and latch attach? I want the stock look and don't want to add hood pins. The positives obviously would be the 50% weight savings.

So $400 through LMR for a stock hood or $639 for a fiberglass hood. And I'll save what approximately 10 pounds?

My main concern over the 10 pounds is fit. WHich one has better reviews in terms of fit and finish

Exactly. Fiberglass hoods often require some "adjusting". I recall buying Saleen side skirts for my '97 Cobra years ago and they were garbage.

I'd probably have to purchase it, test fit it and THEN have my painter do his thing.

My mechanic, following my new engine install, discovered tbe rear TPS screw impacted the hood and made a small dent. Now I'm deciding on a new stock or fiberglass good. It's always something.

I don't know of any that are stock height. I also would say you REALLY should run hood pins with a fiberglass hood as I've seen WAY too many cars with busted windshields and cowls from them flying up. There's a few low profile ones that are hard to tell they are even on there, I'm using the circle type just like what comes on the most recent GT500 from the factory.

I think there was a Saleen version that was fiberglass and stock height but had some vents in it, @95steedamustang would know for sure though and it would be hard to find and expensive I bet.

PDR could probably make that way less noticeable.

I noticed, just within the last day, that the underhood bracing is pushing in the rubber elbow. I'll almost certainly need to buy a non stock hood.

Sa10 Saleen hoods, even replicas are crazy expensive.
I run a cervinis 1.5.
Great quality, has always fit right, keeps the safety latch. Probably not doing much better than that.
With that said, if i ever get around to a paint job, I'll cut the bracing out and at least attempt to put a stock hood back on.

Why would you put a stock hood back on?
