How much room is there under the hood? My car is at the body shop and I need to know if I should have them paint the stock hood or just leave it because I'll need a cowl. I have a 93 Convertible LX. Energy suspension engine mounts, Trick Flow Street Burner intake with a 1 inch spacer. Do you think this will clear the stock hood or will I need a cowl?
Thanks guys

Ditch the spacer and it should be fine. Usually you need a spacer to clear the valve covers. Get the Trick Flow valve covers and you will be fine. They have enough clearance for everything but shaft rockers.

Do you have pics of the valve covers? Sounds like a good solution.

If the Street Burner is the same height as the Track heat, then he shouldn't need the Trick Flow covers. My stock valve covers clear just fine with my Track Heat intake.

The stock valve covers wouldn't clear my roller rockers.

Nothing 15-minutes with a die grinder won't fix. Mine wouldn't clear either, until I "massaged" and redesigned the inner baffle a little. Now, no sweat. Have done this on both FRPP rockers as well as a big ol set of Crane 1.7's.

Worse comes to worse, you could double up on valve cover gaskets.

It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

True^^^ I had to do the same thing. I have big o' nasty harland sharp stud mount roller rockers under my stock covers. I just removed the baffle altogether. And use one gasket, too.
