stock pistons?

soon to be under going a project and i was wondering how big of cam can i use on the stock pistons? how much valve lift i can have before the valve hits the piston?

i don't think valve lift is a issue for the pistons as much as it is for the heads. valve duration is the issue for piston clearence.

ok so can i use a x-cam and afr 58cc heads with stock pistons?
or will i have to get notched pistons

vlave lift is not the issues, its the overlap ground into the cam http://sbftech.com/index.php/topic,57.0.html

No a X-Cam will not fit, it not just the duration number @ .050 it is the timing events as well

X cam is a pretty big cam. Do you plan on only racing with this engine?

i like the lumpy idle and it will mainly be a weekend car.

Always check your clearances when installing a new cam. It is 20 minutes of your time and will save an engine. DO NOT CUT THIS CORNER!

Worst case scenario you have to notch the pistons, not a big deal.
