I think the actual speaker holes are for 5x8 speakers but you can make 6x9's fit. They are better speakers(sound, selection) for front make sure the 3.5 are not too deep, they will stick out of dash.

what about the 6" inchers (or real close) in the front doors? 6.5's will work up there with some clearancing on the hole.

The door speakers are 5 and 1/4 I believe...the ones all the way up top on the dash are 3.5 and the ones in the back are 6X8...

yeah, i know. but some do, and so i figured i would pipe up about them for future searches.

also, for vert owner, i will add: on the 88 GT vert, it was a real squeeze to even get 6 X 8's in the rear. i really dont know if 6 X9's would fit. i think it had 5.25 or 6.5's back there originally. (the problem was with depth - the panel does not want to sit flush against the underlying metal with a deeper, bigger speaker.

good luck to all.

I would put 6.5's instead of 5 somethings but he did ask what size holes. So I admit when I am wrong. I did not say some stangs......to be a smartass

thanks guys,

I think i'll just measure everything myself before hand. I just saw this topic and figured it would be an easy answer, but i might as well do it the right way and measure everything.

87 -93 are 3 1/2 in the dash and the doors are 5 1/4 but u can put 6 1/2 in there and the rears are 5x7 or 6x8, there the same hole pattern, the 6x9s wont fit, at least not in my 88 or 89 gts.
