Alright so the time has come to replace the worn clutch in my T5. I will not be going with a Spec stage 4, I want something that will hit hard but wont blow the T5 up on the first few powershifts. What should I be looking for? I have only had 2 clutches in this car, and both were used and free (FMS HD ones). Toss your suggestions here...

I've always like the centerforce, easy on the leg and won't break your trans.
If i'm not mistaken, the king cobra kit actually uses a centerforce pressure plate. (this is old info i had, it may not be true, so check into it).

I always heard the Centerforce II clutch was good.. More RPM the harder it holds. May blow up the stock tranny but i don't know. I have a friend who has one in his bone stock car, he doesn't beat on it like you do but he does get on it. Hasn't blown up yet

i am currently running a RAM powergrip HD. works great and the pedal isnt stiff at all. its about the same as a FMS or KC.

only thing is that at first its a little tricker to drive, it can chatter slightly and its easier to stall the car when trying to take off. but its not too bad after you get used to it.

i ran the FMS and KC both (same holding power) they were great clutches but when i had my vortech on my car they wouldnt hold and would slip.

I ran both a King Cobra and a Centerforce Stage II on my daily driver. I am not to sure about both clutches using the same pressure plate. I doubt it.

Stage II hands down. :nice:

Easier pedal and took more abuse and my T5 never blew up.

I've see too many king cobra clutches catastrophically fail to say get one. My buddies springs popped out of his disc, and my other friends just straight up broke. I ran a Spec stage 2 and it was awesome, personally I thought it was over kill for a stock 5.0, my buddy put a stage one in his 99 GT and loved it. I put 30000 miles on my stage 2 and it just glazed over, the disc still had a ton of meat left to it.

Same here.. have ran both and the cf df is the way to go

Stay away from the stage 2 spec. I have drove 3 different cars with that clutch in them and all of them where hard as hell to push in.

I have been running a Spec stage 2 for around 5 or 6 seasons. If that was your experience then it was not adjusted right. I put 500 street, not highway, miles on mine before I even made 1 pass with it. Not one problem. I have been runing it with a stock t-5 also. Ram aluminum flywheel. Never broke the t-5. I could not even guess how many passes are on it but I have never had to tend to it since it was installed. The car goes regular mid 1.5 60's with a best 1.52. I would buy another Spec in a heartbeat Tom.
