Stock Transmission

See, I don't know, because I've sheared half the teeth off of 3rd gear speed shifting on street tires. But I have another buddy who has a similar setup and runs a T-5 that practically shifts itself and has had no rebuild with more than 100K miles on it. Like I said, I think it has some luck involved, just like how some guys can get away with running DRs on stock 28 spline axles.

I'm pretty happy with my latest, its an Astro Performance "Cobra" T-5, and so far has taken some good abuse.

I know a guy with a 500hp 351 in a coupe and he has the T5Z and he pounds the hell out of that thing and hasn't broke it yet. Then like i said my buddy swears by 4 cylinder T5s and hasn't broke one yet, but then i've seen a lot of low power cars blow V8 T5s too so who knows. The Merkur guys like to swap in T5s and i've seen some of them blow too.

Thanks for the info guys my dad called our transmission guy today and he said it sounds like either some rods inside the case or maybe something to do with the clutch, i am going to take the tranny out sunday and see if i can see if anything is messed up on the outside to keep it from going into gear.

dude, like 3 people have already asked - when you turn the car off and put it in gear, does it go? jesus... let's try answering the basic questions first so we can better help you diagnose your problems...

Yes it does go in gear with the car off but its getting easier to go in so im going to take the tranny out sunday and see if i can see anything wrong on the outside and if not take it to the tranny guy

T5's are made of glass as far as im concerned.. I went through three of them in my 12 second fury on a few years.. one world class lasted five months with just street tires and all of them were shifted with a pro5.0 shifter and never really missed a shift. I'd pack your rebuild money away and invest it into a tremec for some piece of mine.
