stock valve covers fit over ford 1.7 RR's ?

i placed my stock covers on the heads with the rockers bolted down (pedastal mount) and it seemed to clear fine, will i have enough clearence with the engine assembled and running?

from what i'd heard no. I got some Fox valve covers for my ped. 1.7's.

FWIW....I scammed a pair of OEM Cobra VC's awhile back...Here they are compared to the GT ones...same height...Like Jason said...FRPP 1.7s shouldn't be an issue as the Cobra came with em...

It depends which rockers

I am currently having those issues on my 94 cobra. I installed Twisted wedge track heat with my rebuild which came with 7/16 stud mount rockers studs so I purchased Scorpion 1.72 rocker for 7/16 stud mounts and there is no way my factory cobra valve covers fit. If I were to replace tall covers my intake would not clear and I would need a spacer. Then I would have to modify my supercharger piping and egr tube. I was really ticked off but someone told me to try fox body valve covers. I tried it but they still hit my rockers. However I took a grinder and grinded the inside corner reinforcements and they now clear fine. I had to grind the lower edge of my intake by the egr but not a problem vs. having to go the other route. Tommorow I will be sanding and primering my valve covers and upper intake to paint basecoat/clear coat silver so they match and look nice. Maybe install some cobra decals on my valve covers whith a nice cobra logo.

I still had to space my upper 3/8" (TFS Street Heat) with those heads and FOX VC's. Also had to space the EGR tube (California) and Mod the Oil fill cap as I couldn't turn it.

Where exactly did you the clearance issues?

I grinded my oil fill cap round. Just grind the tabs looks really neat I couldn't turn with the charger inlet tube but grinding solved the problem. I dont know why that area is such a tight fit I've seen other cars with the same charger and they appear to have more space.

I didn't have a grinder at the time, but had a big pair of tin snips..
I figured I'd replace it, but haven't gottne to it yet. I have a bench grinder now, so maybe I'll do it tomorrow....
It's my understanding that the fox VC tube is in a different location than the 94-95's, and SOME of the fox's are in different places from each other.....

I mocked up my upper intake with valve covers while the motor was on the stand with my old oil cap and they worked fine and it appears the oil fill tube is in the same place. I didnt mock up the charger I hope it is not an issue maybe I will do that tommorow before I paint the vc. Thanks for the heads up.

i used to have 1.7 pedestal mount roller rockers on mine then changed to stud mounted 1.6's all u have to do is double up two cork felrpo valve cover gaskets, and do a little whacking with a hammer they will fit.
