I don't see how that makes it harder to steal. Mustang with the PATS system won't start without the chiped key.

it's pretty much the same thing, just the chip is seperate from the key. so they could have the key (somehow) and still not start the car.

I went out to start my car this morning to let it warm up. 5 min later I was on my way out to head to work when all of a sudden I hear my car start revving. Now, my car has idleing issues so I didnt really think anything of it. So as I open my door and step outside I see my car SCREAMING past my house down the street. This is such a hollow feeling... I get in my moms grand am and try to follow but I didnt find him

Any guidence? I called the police, they looked for it for about 15 minutes and ran a report and then said there is nothing more they can do..

So now I have no mustang. What the F do I do now?

Damn dude I'm sorry to hear that. I don't mean to make you feel bad or anything, but the cops probably won't find your car. It's best to plan for the worst. That being said, I think it's time for a 03/04 cobra!

Don't get too mad or depressed though because it won't do you any good. My first car was stolen so I know the feeling. Just look at the bright side. Now you can choose any stang you want!

I would love an 03/04 cobra, but I dont have the cash to lay down on one of those. I am thinking I will go with an 02-04 GT and start all over again. Hopefully the insurance company wont give me and crap and reimburse me atleast 70% for the aftermarket parts.

I was also thinking about getting a lightning- but I need more than 12mpg and they are rather hard to find..

by the way, still no update. I had to fill out an affidavit today for the insurance and fax it in along with all my receipts - everyone keep your fingers crossed!

on the STI, they are harder to steal. There's a chip under the steering column that you can take out and the car will not start w/o it. so i guess theives could put it on a rollback and steal it that way, but driving off with it...can't w/o the chip. (I only know this because a friend has one haha)

Actually, I was just making fun of the fact that of all vehicles, he brought an STi into the thread, but thanks for the info anyway.

Good luck with whatever happens man, I know my heart would also sink to the ground if my car was stolen, but if insurance takes care of you, or if it was me and they took care of me, Id look to the bright side of getting something bigger/better or a new platform and let the fun start all over agian, but I know how you feel man!

The insurance company might try to screw you by not covering the theft. Beware of the insurance companies. They are ALL theives!

I was looking in this sharper image catalog and they have this GPS tracking device that you can put in your car which would probably be good to get. As for your car getting stolen that sucks and if you find it kick the persons assss.

Yeah, I have been looking at 02-04 GTs. I think it would be fun starting all over again, but only if I can get all my money back from the parts that were stolen with the car. It would really suck to have to buy all that all over again. I guess we will see...

Before new car shopping and trying to recoupe the cost of your mods, did you ever find out if the insurance company was going to pay out for the car alone in the first place since you left the keys in the ignition?

Thank god I live on the west side. Sorry bro about your car but from what I have seen that is not the best place to live. I guess that is from what I have seen and what the guys at work have told me.

What?!!!!! Just because I live on the east side DOES NOT mean its a bad place to live. The east side is just like the west side, it has its good neighborhoods and it has its bad neighborhoods; Like I said before I live in a GOOD neighborhood.

No update yet, I have talked to the insurance company several times and they have not once mentioned they wouldnt cover it because the keys were in the ignition. I guess I will see what happends, but they are well aware of the fact and not once mentioned anything.

I wish you the best..

This has got to be hard..

I don't think a neighborhood has anything to do with it; some people think mine is horrible, when it's not--it was just too pleasant so theives come down to **** things up :no
