Someone wants to sell me his mustang but i am afraid that it may be stolen. The only way i know to check if it is, is to look at the vin numbers. The only problem wiht this is i dont know where they are located on a mustang. Has anyone had to do a check like this before, and if so where are these codes at?

How will simply looking at the VIN number tell you if it's stolen?

The VIN is usually visible through the outside of the driver's side of the windshield on a metal plate that is attached to the dash. Run a CarFax on the number. If they get real nervous about you taking down the VIN number....

I'd go to your local DMV maybe and have the plates check out or maybe a peace officer could run the plates in their computer.

Maybe he's nervous because it's been involved in an accident ... you may want to do a CarFax, too.
