Strange 10 ways VS Bilsteins..

I desperately need new brakes and shocks/struts. I know what brake kit I want to go with but I am having a hard time deciding on what struts/shocks. I know bilsteins have a great reputation, but I have recently discovered the strange 10 ways and wonder how the two compare? I know the adjustability can be a pain in the ass, but I want something for corner carving and something to help me launch at the strip. I plan on doing coil overs down the line (i wish i could afford it now) and I know both support it...

Does anyone run the strange 10 ways? How do you like them?
I tried searching with no luck :(

Also the strange setup is $140 cheaper :)

It really comes down to if you want adustable or not.

Adjustable s/s's give you options for different things. They can help you achieve better ride quality as far as the harshness of the ride is concerned, over the non-adjustable Bil's.

It comes down to what you do, and what you want out of them.

Will they hurt your 1/4 if you are going from stockers to bils? How much?

Well, you have to also consider that you are most likely going to add a stiffer spring to the combo too (stiffer than OEM), so your weight transfer will suffer with the AM strut/shock and springs. They aren't made for drag racing.

I've never heard of anyone getting BETTER 60' times with aftermarket stiffer springs, at least not that I can remember.

C springs are a pretty mild drop, so either the Strange or the Bilstiens will be fine with those springs. You could even go with mach 1 shocks and struts and save some money if you wanted. If you get the adjustables just because they are cool, and you can adjust them, then you're getting them for the wrong reason. Bilstiens are expensive and quality.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they have a lifetime warranty?

I personally don't care for Strange. I don't have any real reason for this opinion though.

Also.. like previously mentioned.. don't expect the shocks and struts to do a whole lot as far as drag racing goes. Even the adjustable setups.. people are finding it quite hard to dial down for the track. Technically, unless you go with a complete drag suspension setup, you're probably hurting your straight line(due to weight transfer problems) by *upgrading* springs/shocks/struts. Just keep that in mind.

I just went from 175# front spings (softest coilover springs you can get that i know of) and tokico drag struts TO
275# springs and Bilstein struts.

BIG BIG difference in ride quality! Car handles MUCH better...the struts really keep things under control. and theres much less springiness (sp?) to the car now. And thats comparing now vs my old setup on full stiff....I wont even go into them @ the softest setting LOL.

SO what I have noticed is that cornering has been greatly improved, ride quality has been improved, BUT stright line traction has suffered a little big. Not a HUGE difference, but enough to notice.

Was it worth it? HECK YEA!! (well maybe not $700 worth it...but I didnt have a choice haha) So maybe that will effect your decision....quality of the bilsteins are second to none, and it shows.

Im looking for the same answer myself. I have some c springs waiting on some s/s's as well and have a buddy recommending the strange adjustable combo to me. He has a solid axle cobra and drives it a couple times a week on the street with the stranges and pulls 1.4 60 ft times on them at the track in a vert. Its not stock and he's made probably 100+ passes on them. Plus the adjustment knobs are easy to get to..adjust the settings at all 4 corners in a minute or two.

I was looking at tokico blues/strange/possibly bil$tein$. Just cant find much feedback on the stranges cept for places like the corral. Lots of foxbody stangs running them.

Are you running rear coil overs as well and what brand COs to you have?? I have been kind of kicking around the idea or going coilover... The thing is i'm broke as crap.

:OT:

I'm going to purposely stop posting in the same threads you do so I don't have to look at your siggy.. :bang: :hail2:

^ :D Thanks man! You have no idea how I felt looking at all of you guys sigs making upper 300s-400s for years lol....I literly thought I would never get to 400HP (because of the money involved) and I really LONGED to have around 400RWHP. Well, lets just say that im almost debt free again HAHAHA.
I wish I lived closer, id be happy to take you for a spin...heck i just took DerekstangGT for a ride last night. I missed second though HAHAHA...first time since the turbos went on...go figure. Oh well, thats what I get for not really put 100% effort into shift...only time I ever miss is if I dont give it my all.

Silverbullet00, nope its all stock out back :rlaugh: . First set was QA1 and this time around I went with Maximum Motorsports. MM is WORLDS better than the QA1 in quality...and provide O rings and great instructions. Dont get me wrong, but QA1 seems like a very good quality setup, but as they say, MM is just on another level. Its much quieter over bump and doesnt pop when I turn the wheel. I love it.

Take a look at Tokico D-Specs if you want adjustability. The are 45 way adjustable. I have had them on my car with Steeda Sport springs for about two weeks now and absolutely LOVE them. I go to the strip and loosen the fronts right off, and adjust the backs about 4 full turns and pull off 1.5-7 60ft times every run. They are not cheap. I have never had Bilsteins or know anybody that has but they sound like a very good option too.

I second the D-Specs. I have them on my car and I dont think I'd be happier any other way.

Sorry I didnt mention it sooner.

SHould be ok for you now....but if you ever go with coilovers I say go Bilsteins. When you look at the shaft diameter between the 2, you will see why I say that....combined with the lifetime warrenty. I can never recommend any Tokicos for coilover applications again(due to their small chaft diameter)...one of them breaking could cause total loss of control.
But like I said, with the stock style front suspension you should be perfectly fine and will have no chance of the strut knocking the spring out.
