My car is making a strangs ticking/clicking sound at idle and when you slowly rev up the car. Also i think i hear the same sound when i take off and slowly pick up speed. It isn't that loud but it i don't think it is something that a 2002 gt should be doing. Does anyone else have this problem and if so what have you done to get rid of the problem.

Mine does the same thing. I think it's "normal" noise from these engines. Do a search as there are many threads on this topic.

Mine too. It is a normal sound on our modulars. Gotta love Ford.

I had the same problem in my 01 after about 20,000 miles. It ended up being a spun bearing.Ford warrantied my engine for free. Might be something to look into.Haven't had a problem since.

My car is in the shop for this issue. Turns out there is a TSB for 03 Cobra heads. There valve guides have problems on the drivers side. So it's getting a new head put on. I remember hearing that the GT's might have a similar issue but I can't remember.

I could hardly notice it at all only when it was cold. My car was in for a leaking diff and they said "oh by the way we are changing your drivers side head for the TSB" LOL.

Mine is going in tomorrow for the same thing. Here is a website that I came accross that made me decide to take it in:

That's really the service manager's call.Depends on how much time they have to spend on your car. They will either completely tear it down and redo it, or just give you a new engine.Whichever he decides, you are still getting a new or rebuilt engine out of the deal. You might take the opportunity to get some parts put on for free if you don't already have them and know your service people pretty good.I had underdrives, a c&l upper and an x-pipe put on for free since all of the parts were already off.Figured if I had to go without my car, at least I was going to get something for the inconvenience.
