So is stroking to a 331 or 347 good? I have been asking about heads but now I'm kinda wondering why not do it all while everything is off, that being my intake and heads change once I make a decision on which heads I'm going with. Is it a lot of work, not that I'll be doing any of it but is it a hassle and not a cost friendly project to do so. I've seen these kits on lmr which seem reasonable but I'm not sure about the physical install aspect. Always thought it would be cool but is it really? Also what's the difference in 331 to 347 and I beams vs H beams, and what about the pistons? Again not a big mechanic or technician knowledgeable guy but just wondering if this project is worth while.
Gotta say it's a great learning experience and very gratifying building your own engine, if your into that sort of thing like me. I've been into muscle cars all of my adult life and finally built my own engine (intake to pan) last year (393w).
I'm fortunate enough to have a good buddy of mine, who has probably forgotten more about cars than I'll ever know, to help me out.
To the o.p if you really want to tackle building a stroker , assuming your a novice buy your questions, I would suggest doing a lot of research/reading, ask a lot of questions and find a good machine shop.
347 or 331 still a 302 block bored, crank stroke is longer on a 347 (more power).
H-beam rods stronger than I-beam, also more $
Figure out what size engine your building then pick heads/cam that will flow appropriately.
A lot of consideration and options need planned out don't rush into it, helps to know someone with more experience.
