Strut rattle

Then I saw the hood was teetering on the latch meaning the latch was high compared to the rubber bumpers at each front corner. I lowered the latch so the hood now sits tight against the bumpers. I thought for sure I had found the culprit in this but after test driving……rattle still there
 
I have a guy I’ve known for many years in my neighborhood. Depending on how you might assign titles, he’s a Foxbody expert among all other aspects of car enthusiasts and he works on them for a living. Although I do 99% of my own stuff, he’s who I bounce stuff off face to face when I need help.

He and I talked yesterday and I was planning to drop the car off to him to see if he could figure it out. After discussing it with him we’re 99.9% positive it’s the UPR plates and the spherical bearings that by design have practically no dampening feature.

So, it’s live with it or change to something different. What type of design is the MM? What kind of dampening is built in to them if any?
 
The aftermarket strut mount camber plate setup might be flexing and making noise at the interface with the strut tower
On Taurus, we had the same issue with the factory strut mounts
Ford came out with strut plates about 3 years too late
I had been fixing them with washers for years
Some were welded with not enough room in the tower area
You could try what I used to do
Lower the strut down with the mount
Add a washer to ech of the studs and put the strut back up in and re torque the nuts
See if that helps
Google Taurus strut plates and you may see one
Those plates (or using the washers) moved the strut mount down enough to not contact the tower
 
What happens on Mustangs (and Taurus)
When you move the strut to correct the camber and caster, you run the risk of the plate contacting the tower at the outside edges
When the mount flexes, you get the pop
Lowering the adjustable strut mount 1/8 inch down and away from the tower helps

I understand what you are saying. Next time im up under there, ill have another look
