Strut tower differences ¿¿¿

Quick question and it might be a dumb one; is the shape of the 79-89 strut tower the same as a 90-93? I know they changed caster camber plate part somewhat in '90; but did they change the shape of the tower any?

The reason I'm asking is because there is a 87-89 core support with the towers for sale around here. I want to cut and patch in the lower part of the '87 tower to a '92 stang with lower tower rot. Does anyone know or can verify this? Just trying to avoid any dumb setbacks.

I can say with 99.9% certainty the the strcuture itself was unchanged from 79-93 on the fox. The camber plate change you speek of was due to Ford increasing wheel caster in 1990 by relocating the tops of struts more rearward (not by much) towards the cowl. They also changed the K-braces lower control arm pickup points and pivot angles to go along with strut change, thats all they did as far has changes through 93..The first change to the K brace started in 1987 but they did nothing to the camber plates, all the changes where done to bolt on parts not the structure itself, hope this helps you out.

According to my sources, the strut tower is different on the 90 and up cars, as well as the lower control arm location points on the K-member to increase caster.

they ahev the same shape you would just have to remember to run the correct year camber plates and probally
run the 87-89 k member which is easy to keep the same geometry, you should have no problems.
