struts

I know I look really dumb for asking this but are there lateral sturts in the rear and if so which are a good type to buy, I need to replace my struts in the front and in the rear,so is that a total of 6 struts total? also to install lowering springs do I have to replace the plates. I have a 02 gt, Any help will be great:bang:

lateral sturts your talking about is called quad shock. its there to supress axle movement that are not managed by LCA and UCA. most people do not change them when they do shocks and struts. If its leaking, i guess u can change them. but if your quadshock is leaking, i'd rather replace control arm and remove quad shock all together

their not leaking but i get a real bad scarping sound, its a little hard to describe, But I get this sound in the front and the rear of the car. i mostly hear it when I hit bumps or pot holes, take of quick, or when driving slow you can also hear the sound if the car moves side to side or sometimes on turns. does this sound like the suspention?

Have you lubed the chassis lately?
Have you checked the spring Isolators?

Also you have 2 struts(in the front), 2 shocks (in the back) and 2 quad shocks (the horizontal ones). Most people with aftermarket Lower Control Arms take the quad shocks off.
As for lowering the car, depends, usually 1.5" drops don't requires Caster Camber plates. Usually anything over that does. Of course each car can and is slightly different.
