01Steeda: This car is built soley for Drifting.... It's not set-up for Drags at all though we do have to address some lack of rear weight transfer issues so we'll be looking into what some of the top Drag cars do to help their "launch"...

01Steeda: Not sure why you would hate doing something with your car that is sooooo much fun to do....??? Is it the sport or the people that do it? Keep in mind, the more "mainstream" the sport becomes, the more traditional car enthusiast types are becoming involved.... The demographic is changing by the day and your starting to see people of all nationalities and ages at these events..... But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.... Hate is kind of a strong word though.....

DTNODYA: I'm working on getting some video together.... FWIW, at our last event a guy came up to me and said the car sounded like a NASCAR stock car being chased by a diesel truck...... At low rpm all you here is motor and then as the revs come up the turbo sings for all it's worth..... It has it's own sound for sure.....

Today starts another round of mods: Steering column, Brake package upgrade, more weight saving measures.... We'll keep you posted,

Could we say "some of the people"? We're not all knuckle-heads.... and through my years in the business of motorsports, there are those types in every form of it.... Also for what it's worth, when I was a young kid my friends and I would race in the canyons pretending to be our favorite F1 or Indy Car driver.... I think impressionable kids have always been around and have always street raced be it on curvy roads or in between stop lights....

Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the forum... You'll find some really good info here and some really helpful folks....
As to what we do with this car..... If we could find sponsorship to do "proper racing" we would... However, since I race/drive only cars that can generate actual income I'm doing what I can get help for.... Nobody cares anymore about your skill level or how many driving championships you've won.... all they care about is how much money are you bring to the program.... Unfortunately, I was born poor with a sole desire to race... (not be a successful business man) Problem is motorsports is very expensive and if you don't have the personal funds to compete at your desired level of competition then you have to find "backing".... Drifting is the hottest thing going right now and is one of the few places where you can still find paid drivers.... Our plan for this car is to attract enough attention with it so that I can be in one of those paid rides..... I just hope it happens soon cause I'm going broke.....
As a side note incase anyone is looking to do some proper racing we've got a couple of brand new "proper" race cars without any sponsorship I'd be willing to rent...

Guys, understand I'm not here or on CC to wave the Drifting Flag and try to convince everyone to do it.... Would I like to see more Mustangs out there... sure, that would be great but I (coming from a lifelong career in racing) know that Drifting is a tough thing for some folks to get their arms around..... I'm on here, CC and other sites to gain knowledge and share my experiences that may help others.... just like Ya'll......

Drifting is not for everybody but either is F1, NASCAR or SCCA but they are all fun, require skills to excel.... and cost a ton to do...... We got involved in Drifting because it's one of the last forms of motorsport (notice I didn't say racing, which it isn't in any stretch) where you as a driver can actually start at the grassroot level and advance through the ranks to a level where you can make a living.... Racing used to be that way but now if your not 16 years old and have a rich daddy, you're out of luck.... As evidence, I live right in the heart of NASCAR country and there are good drivers (myself included) without cash working on every team in the industry.... And I mean guys that have won multiple championships back home!! It's the very rare occasion where somebody (over 25) gets a shot anymore... And that's fine, that's just the way it is and all the crying isn't going to change it....

Drifting for me still keeps me using the skills I've worked all my life (started 1/4 midgets at age 7) to perfect, it's somewhat affordable, there's a chance you can get picked up by a bigger team based on your skills and results on the track..... Oh and it's about as much fun as you can possible have.....

So no guys, I'm not here telling you you should stop Drag Racing, Auto X or Road Racing.... I'm just here to learn about, talk about and share about Mustangs and to figure out how to make mine better.... Just like you....

i see your point, but my qualm is, drifting is a sport where the name of the game is to lose control, but do it in a controlled way. any kid on the street can accelerate quickly, or even take some canyon turns quick, but getting sideways and doing something a car was never built for....

So I don't "beat a dead horse", I'll add just this one last thing: The guys that invented the skate board never "designed it" to do what Tony Hawk has done either..... BUT, what he add his peers do on one sure is cool and amazing to watch.....

Well, when was seven.... just kidding..... I'd recommend going to our web site and you'll see pretty-much all the steps I've taken to this point... but in short I raced 1/4 midgets and Karts, then AutoX to Formula cars and just kept spending my own money to put myself in front of the folks that had the big cash.... Racing "professionally" is a on again-off again proposition that takes serious finances and a ton of "being in the right place at the right time." Driving a race car just isn't all that hard so a lot of people are reasonably good at it. So there's a lot of competition..... And here's the bad news: rich kids can be good drivers to and they're more likely to get the ride because they can help subsidize the team. And they can afford to buy more practice time which in many cases gives them a leg up on getting good enough to get a "paid ride"... Becoming a Championship level driver on the other hand is reserved for the truly gifted few (Mario, AJ, Dale Sr., Schumacher, Jackie Stewart, etc.) and once you get to the upper levels of the sport, a driver's talent level is what (for the most part) keeps him there...

Long story short, if you want to become a pro-driver: start with a ton of money, hire a good driver as a coach and/or co-driver, hire a good mechanic that will build fast cars, practice/test every chance you get and put whatever equipment on the car that's necessary to win.... All anybody cares about is do you have the Budget to buy you way into the next level up the ladder (this is more important the older you are) and to some degree how many races you won...

That's probably a longer answer than was needed but there ya go....
