Just on the other side of those holes in the radio there's a metal clip with 2 bent notches. One clip on each side. You only need to push the U shaped tool in about 2 inches or less. The tool probably isn't stuck. On each end of the tool, there's a small notch. That's there so it gets locked on the bent clips on the other side of the radio face. Those clips simply prevent the radio from sliding out.How far in did you push the tool?It shouldn't be able to go farther than 2 inches. The trick here is to slightly push sideways on the tool towards the edge of the radio.Push towards the edge and pull out.Pushing the tool sideways towards the radio edges forces the inside of the tool to push inward on the clip causing the clip to bend further inward. It may take some wiggling but it will come out.

Once you get it out,you will see what I mean....

Do you have the cd/ cassette setup or a pocket below the sterio? Either way remove the lower component and see if you can get to the release tabs. I f all else fails, remove your shifter bezel, the 2 screws below the sterio and there's 1 behind the lower opening. Once those are out, the rest of the center trim will release using "pressure clips". gently pull the edges until it releases. This will remove the whole assembly and allow you to acces the sterio release tabs.
