Stuck...

Sometimes when im driving my car the throttle gets stuck.  After i let off of the gas and push in the clutch the engine will keep reving at the same rmp as when i was pressing the gas. I found that if i shut off the car it will fix it for a while, anyone know what is wrong with my car? Please help me, this is weird.

ok i tried that... it all felt ok. this started to happen after I had a wreck. when the problem started it only got stuck for a few seconds but now the rpms wont go down until i restart the car.
it hit on the drivers side door/rocker panel/wheels at about 40-45 mph. into a guard rail. I dont know if that has anything to do with it. it messed up some wires and now my stereo doesnt work either.

Well the only thing under there that has really anything to do electrinically with positioning the TB is the IAC. I can't see it sticking you at WOT. Might be worth looking into though.

remove and clean the IAC motor (don't forget to get a new gasket before you pull it). See if that helps. If not, replace it. Maybe someone else can think of something else but that's all that I can come up with that would screw with your throttle electrically.

Mine stays at whatever rpm I am shifting at sometimes.I installed bbk pedals and tha gas pedal is wide so it sticks on the carpet, just something to look at.Maybe the carpet is coming up and holding the pedal.

interesting, i too have a wide/long accelerator pedal, that is probably it....THANKS :nice: :nice: :nice: :nice:

Patrick, does the idle stay elevated after you have been stationary for a few seconds?
if it goes away once stopped, that is the puter. the VSS and puter work together to keep the rolling idle around 1200-1500 rpm so that the vehicle does not stall (like if you got off a freeway and coasted down the off ramp).

good luck!
