Are you sure that you need a e-test, I have not needed to test my '68. Im in denver and using the 5 year collector plates. Might check into it, I don't think you need the E-test because of age.

Because this car was titled out of state, I need a one-time emissions test to get plates, even the collector series. At least, that's what I'm being told by the unfriendlies at the DMV.

Platonic Solid

Long ago when emissions testing was required on my 72 (302), it always failed. Until I started turning both carb screws "In" about a half turn (the car barely idled, but didn't stall) right before the test, then turned them back out right after the test. Worked every time.

I helped out an old neighbor with a F100 that failed same thing. It was a good running truck. I did the tune up, changed the plugs, adjusted the timing back a tad, and turned the idle mixture screws in a tad and upped the idle. It passed then I simply moved the settings back to get that cool idle sound out the duals.

IT PASSED!

After a week of tinkering, the '67 passed emissions today. Originally, the car failed, measuring 1033 ppm of Hydrocarbons. After taking just about everyone's advice, I changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, filled the tank with premium, added the CRC "Guaranteed to Pass" fuel additive, adjusted the carb, and retarded the timing by 4 degrees. The car runs like crap, but passed emissions measuring 114 ppm of HC. Thanks to all for your help. Now, on to the next project...
