wilbraham, ma
since i got my stang about a year ago, the damned latch won't catch on the hatch. well today i ran over to the junkyard and grabbed a new latch assembly. got home and put it on the car, but the lil guy still doesn't want to stay shut? any ideas?

ps. and no, i don't think there's anything wrong with the striker (though, is the striker just a straight metal piece? or is there a rubber bushing-type thing on it?)

You're probably missing the plastic peice that surrounds the striker. Mines broke off two days ago. I got the peice and taped it with electrical tape. It's lacthing now but barely. Don't know how long it will last. Maybe somebody has an idea of what to use to replace the peice.

thanks guys... it must be the plastic piece around the striker, as my striker definately doesn't have one (it's all metal). musta broke off somewhere along the line. ah well, it's always something. is that a part i could pick up from, say, an autozone? that would rock, as i gotta go pick up oil/filter anyway.

My 90 LX had the same problem, just after the striker cover had fell off. I too taped it on, and it worked perfect. My 93 GT works great, always has, but it has a solid metal striker. I think they may have changed over around 93? What model do you have?
