Stupid question

I know this sounds dumb, but the guy I bought my 93 cobra from just left the big cable from the negative post on the battery just hanging out down by the oil pan. There is a little cable coming of the battery post that is grounded. I know the big cable can just go anywhere on the chassis, but I would like to connect it where it's supposed to go. Can someone tell me where that is?

Yes as mentioned the negitive cable grounds to the block on the driver side at the front I believe where there is a bracket mounted just under the oil filter.

The black ground goes from the negative side of the battery, loops behind the battery and down towards the timing cover on the driver side. If bolts right to the left of the oil filter into the timing cover.
