I made a stupid mistake. I can't believe that I did this. The other day I was installing my MSD ignition. The battery was dead so I took it out to charge it. When I reinstalled it I noticed there was smoke coming out of the alternator. I unhooked it and tried it again. At the same time I noticed a spark come from my amp (my battery is located in the hatch). In my rush to get everything done, I made a huge mistake. I put the battery in backwards. I hooked up the positive cable to the negative terminal and vice versa. The only thing that doesn't work is my radio.

Now for my question. All the speakers are connected to the radio. The sub is connected to the amp. The radio is also connected to the amp. Nothing works. No power to the radio or amp. Is it possible that just the amp is fried or could they both be done?

CHeck with a voltmeter the radio harness if you got power, this just happened to me when i was installing a a/f gauge and splicing inot the radio harness, i looked at the fuses under my steering wheel with a flashlight and all looked good, then i bought a new harness and it still didnt work, so i looked at all the fuses again really close and at a different angle and i had to pull them out one by one and i found 2 blown fuses, that fixed my problem.

I checked the 3 fuses on the amp and the fuse on the back of the head unit. All 4 were blown. Replaced all of them and everything works. I'm really thankful that's the only hit my car took.

Thanks to all who responded.
