I know the suspension should be loaded when intsalling sub-frames. But should the motor & tranny be in the car also?? I have a little ways to go before my motor & tranny will be ready to drop in, and was thinkign about welding my sub's in.

I would think that it would be better to have everything installed as if it was running, but I am not sure so don't go with my word. I would use the logic that the car won't be running until it has a motor so why do SFC's now? It won't run before it has the motor in it.

I would definitely wait until the engine and trans are installed, so the car sits like it should when you weld in the subframes.

Was thinking of putting them in now while doing the body work and all. I plan on having the car painted before I install the motor/tranny. Oh well though, guess I will wait until the motor and tranny are dropped in..

Not if he wants to paint the engine bay at the same time.

Exactly what I am doing. Only thing that will be in the car when its painted is the front & rear glass,, nothing else.

Wait until after paint to install the subframe connectors. You want your car sitting exactly how it will run. With no engine or trans, the front suspension will be extended.

Technically there might be nothing wrong with doing it that way, I know people who installed SFCs with the car on jack stands and the tires hanging in the air....but that is not the correct way to do it.

If I were you, I would paint the car, finish putting it back together, get it running and aligned, THEN put the SFCs on.

Yeah...just get a bunch of buddies to stand/sit in the engine bay and sip back a few beers while you are welding
