I purchased a pair of Maximum Motorsports Subframe connectors for my 1992 Convertible.

Part #MMFL-2B $109/set

I called a local muffler shop, and they said around $80 for the install.

Is this a good price for weld in subframes?

Yea that's pretty good. Make sure they have a drive-on lift, the kind where when they lift it, it lifts the car by the wheels. If it lifts it from the chassis, it might cause the chassis to flex. Then when they put it back down with the subframes on, it might cause the car to be twisted funny. But $80 is pretty fair.

Good point about the drive on lift, I will make sure they do that.

Cool, well I will get them installed when they arrive.

Out of curosity, where in TX? If near San Antonio, I got mine welded in for 65.00 at a local speed shop. Some others have had it done at muffler shops for less. I called one shop and was quoted a price of 195.00 just for the welding!! os over all 80.00 is average.

I had a local small shop weld em in for $30. I provided all parts and help hold stuff etc. Took like 30 min. Try a smaller place. Somewhere thats not flashy and new. You might be able to get a better price than $80. Good Luck.

I was quoted $150. That includes removal of the old ones. Kind of high, but that was over the phone without seeing the work.

Make sure that's for welding them on and not bolting. $80 is decent for welding.

so do you have to cut the old ones out and then weld in the new ones? Are those the things that look like subframe connectors that run along the sides of the body about a foot in?

No you are probably thinking of either the frame rails or the lip under the door. The fox mustangs did not come with subframe connectors. The previous owner welded a set in. I don't like the design and the welding was piss poor so I have to replace them.

my thoughts too. Here in the swamp/woods the buddy system works well. I just cant see spending more on the install than for the parts. That sucks. I hope this guy finds a better deal out there. Good Luck.

Well the subframes were $109 + Shipping = $136, so 80 is a little less than the total cost of the product. I don't really care about price, I just wanted to make sure that for a quality job, at a good shop, that $80 was a decent price.

I gave 150 for my 80amp mig welder. My buddys shop wanted 180 to install 40.00 connectors.. I said no.

I am a welder (went to school for it and welded for last 15yrs), I just didnt have one at home and my employer dosent allow you to work on cars in the shop so i took the money i would of paid to my bddys shop and bought the welder.

Nope, not yet, I am out of town right now, and plan on coming home on Wed. It kinda sucks because I know that FedEx probably just left the box of KYB shocks and struts I ordered on the front porch, without a signature.

Hopefully nobody wants that big box.

I was lucky to get the MGW shifter installed, that took long enough.

I will get it done on Friday at the soonest. I need to print out the .pdf file so the shop knows just how to put all the little pieces together. I still haven't asked them if they know how to install full length, and where to weld in all the tabs.

I'll get it done soon enough.

Joe, please tell me you didnt let Bob weld them in at low budget muffler! I welded my own h-pipe mods in his shop. He can bend pipes, but weld he cannot.
