Too funny. I used that line way too much. But it was true, so I didn't feel bad.

First question. Do you pay for all of your car stuff now? Meaning insurance/gas/maintenance/etc. If you do, then that is a good start.

When it comes to your father, you need to appeal to logic. You need him to want you to have the car. So, you need to do some sort of trade. Meaning, you need to start cutting the grass, doing more chores, etc.

As for your mom, you need to appeal to safety, self control & compassion. Does your Honda have air bags? If it doesn't, then the argument "It has dual air bags" will be a great start. Secondly, you need to point out that the car has a "rev limiter and speed govenor". This alone will MAKE you be safe when driving the car. Third, you need to show passion about the car. Buy TONS of posters & put them all over your walls, make sure she sees you on stangnet and other mustang sites. Even aftermarket parts sites will be useful (looking into the future).

Also, you need to be an ANGEL while you are trying to sucker them into the deal. Don't nag them too much, because that will just irritate them. Sometimes being subtle will be 10x more effective than being blunt.

Generally speaking, the dad will be cool with it, but has to agree with the mom. So you need to get your mom on your side first, then the rest is cake.

That said, some families are different. My parents didn't give a rats ass what I did, as long as they weren't paying for it.
