Well the last working window failed on the 'ol Crown Vickie yesterday, and now that I'm out of school and have a real job, I figure its time to upgrade and act the part of an educated working class citizen. Obviously, as you might have guessed, I want to buy Ford. I'm in love with the new Fusion (AWD black V6 SEL ), but I'm thinking a Focus is a much more economical route, especially since I could spend that extra gas/monthly payment money on the Fox. I'm also curious in the Mercury sister cars, but I don't think I want to spend the extra green on anything Lincoln has to offer.

Advice? Opinions? Lets hear them.

P.S. A little back story: The Crown Vic has more than 250K miles on her, has been hit (while stationary) by at least 3 vehicles, has a cracked windshield, both side mirrors are broken, Me and 4 friends once used the hood as a drunken snow sled, has seen sky under all four wheels more than once, you start it with a screwdriver, and it can still sit in rush hour traffic without overheating. It just idles a little rough and sips oil

Damn, those crown vic's are tough ass machines arent they?! I have punished numerous different ones in my career and it still amazes me how they can take the beating they do and still hold up! Ford definitely makes some very tough cars You sure do not see any chevy police cars hold up like that, after 70,000 miles of mild police work the chevy's are JUNK!

As for a DD I would'nt know what to buy, I do agree the Fusion is a sharp ass car and would prob be my pick

I had a fusion as a company car for 2 months and it was the best fleet car i've ever had. It was the V6 AWD and it was really well balanced in handling, braking and acceleration. For a car that I was driving nearly non-stop I had no complaints about it. Drove it like it was stolen and still got 650Kms/400Miles to a tank.

What's wrong with getting another Crown Vic? I mean, if the formula works, why change it?

Oh, and if you feel like generously giving away your old Crown Vic, feel free to drive it on down and drop it off at my place. There is no such thing as a Panther car with too much mileage on it, IMO.

Haha, believe me, I love the car. Its just getting to the point where I need to drive something more sensible and presentable. The Vic has been great to me, but its past the point of just fixing a few things here and there to make it "like new again". And in a new car I want better fuel mileage, so I don't want another Crown Vic.

I'll post pics of the ol girl here after a bit...

Are those the SVT wheels? Never thought a hatchback Focus could look that good. Hmmmmm (gears turning).

Pics of Vicky...

This serves as my anti-theft device when my mt. bike rides along (the rack isn't on the car in this picture). All I have to do is run my cable lock through there and I'm set!

Me too, I almost talked Lazer into buying one.

Only the optional european package like the one above came with the HID's, the rims you see, all black heated leather recaros, heated mirrors, and anything else that was optional on the regular FSVT.

Fusions are great cars, the gas mileage and power of the V6 leave a bit to be desired but overall absolutely excellent. I actually wanted to get a Vapor Silver SE 4-cyl 5-speed with the Sport Appearance Package. The new 08 Focus is fun with a stick, and the SES has alot of great options including leather, heated seats, and SYNC is really cool. SVT Foci are alot of fun but arent *that* fast. Someone mentioned Escort ZX2 they are fun to drive but noisy and very plain.

Overall...Fusion FTW
