summer plans...

summer is coming which means no college & a summer job. i had a couple options for the stang and im not sure which one i should go for w/ the summer money.

one option i was thinking about was getting a stalker hood & plenum/throttlebody/intake (accufab & probably k&n or mac intake) & maybe u/d pullies

another option is finishing my exhaust and getting slp longtube headers

my last option is getting 18" chrome rims/tires and windows tinted & maybe an more powerful amp for the subwoofer

i figured that each mod would be around a grand give or take a few dollars, but im not too sure which way i want to go b/c i want all of them! im really leaning towards the first because i dont know how much of a sound difference the lt headers would be...i want it louder!!! but i figured a full intake compared to lt headers would be about the same rwhp...and who knows w/ the rims i might end up getting them too by the end of the summer...any suggestions?

Save plenum and TB for one of your supporting mods after you finish everything else. It'll set you back, and you won't notice much.

Judging by the mods you list in your sig, I would go with wheels as well.

He's right, plus everyone will notice the wheels.

As for the longtubes: I would recommend not doing them - I did last year and wish I put the money towards a supercharger. That's my 2 cents on longtubes.

yeah lt's would probably be a little over a grand after parts & labor...is it not worth the money? if not i might think about getting some stage 1 or 2 cams instead? it should be around the same price i believe. i dunno ill probably end up spending like 2 grand on the car this summer b/c rims are real tempting too. i wasnt a fan of the 18" deep dish bullitts but they have grown on me...especially the chrome ones...buuut does a set of stage 1/2 cams affect the sound of the car that much?

Cams absolutely affect the sound. However, they are extremely expensive. You have to pay for the cams, the installation, and they absolutely require a tune.

Expect to pay $2000+ for all that.

anybody want to throw any rim ideas out there? ive always thought about the 18" chrome saleens...but the more i see 18" chrome deep dishes the more i like them...any other ideas?

The last one is a 17" the first two are 18". One inch makes a big diff in the price of the rubbah...

Why would you want 18" rims and a heavy ass sound system?

Sounds like your mods are contradicting each other. The biggest rim size I would go with would be 17" . You'll just add more weight to your 3400 lb car

Go with the LT's. You'll get some decent gains..

well the sound system definitely adds an extra 60-80 lbs buuuuut i dont really get the rim arguement...

it would only be a 20-30 lb weight differential between 17" deep dish bullitts (104 lbs a set) & 18" deep dish bullitts (128 lbs a set) & the tires would be less than 5 lb differential and its not like i am going to go professionally race my car so weight isnt a huuuge issue...i just want my car to sound good & be able to get up whenever i get a lead foot every now & then...i dont know how much of a difference 20-30 extra pounds due to rims makes on the performance side, but if i was that worried id go on a diet!

Well I don't have the bullitts...so I don't know what mine weigh lol. But I guess if your not going to drag weight isn't an issue.

U need 17 at least. Bear system i posted above is really glorified 13" Cobra kit.

I guess you don't really need K-member. But If your gonna do LT, and drop K-menber, then might as well. u'll love room you have afterwords

i have light ass 18's

l/t are awsome. super happy with mine.

wheels are nice too as far as the looks. i dont know what it is but of all the bullitt deep dish i like the chrome the least. i love the black or anthricite though.

I'd go with the last option, if not the 1st one.

I'd do the LT's and get a Tubular K-member/A-arms at the same time.

Or do Cams, install them yourself and get it tuned.

But, I don't know why people always say 18's are sooo heavy

The tires are what's heavy, imo. I felt my wheels without the tires on them and I thought they were pretty damn light! But the tires on the other hand, 285/35/18 GS-D3's are HEAVY!!!
