That's why i was suggesting an upgrade, maybe something more appealing on the inside. Maybe with a slider you can close.

This is not one of those jobs for a "buddy", it's a job for a paid expert. In fact it's something i would never consider. You can land up screwing up your whole roof.... my brother has a killer set of tools. we can fix this. your change is a major body work issue. lots of welding(slowly),sanding ,filling, did i say sanding and filling?. and then the body work/painting/blending comes into play. if not done correctly... correctly means expensive. your roof will look like a$$ if not done correctly. you wont like it. get a non sunroof car if you dont dig the roof.bottom line.

I've been thinking about this kind of thing as the sunroof on my car is pretty rusty. It's got big bubbles all around the roof edge. I'm not remotely bothered about having a sunroof, so I though of getting it cut out and new metal welded on, as that sounded easier than fixing the curved bit of the roof (ie the edge of the hole).

how attached are you to the car?? if i was in your spot id sell the car and buy a mustang without a skylight.

i wouldnt even attempt patching it or putting a new roof section on it cause its so much work and theres a good possibility it will look hacked to sh**. and if it comes out bad your stuck with it.

as for sunroofs... i think they are for girls, just like convertibles. so i dont blame you for trying to get rid of it, i had one in my old hatch and that was one of a few reasons i got rid of the car.
